In this article I'll explain to you how you can recycle your old monitor and use it as a TV.
If you want to transform your used monitor in a TV, make sure it has:
- HDMI connection
- Built-in Speakers
I'll start with the case where you don't have one of these. You can find details on how to connect a monitor that meets the requirements in the end of this article.
How to use a monitor that does not meet the requirements
So your monitor doesn't meet the requirements. But don't worry, this is how you solve it:
HDMI connection
HDMI is pretty standard nowadays. If you have DVI, VGA or DP connection you will need an adapter. As most monitors have a VGA input I recommend that you use a HDMI to VGA adapter.
Luckily it is easy to find a HDMI to VGA adapter when you have a guide:

In any case check if your TV's output is the same as the input of your monitor.
Built-in Speakers
If your monitor does not have built-in speakers you need to get an adapter that can either be an audio extractor or any other external speakers that have an auxiliary input ("AUX", in case your monitor has an audio jack).
You can find an adapter with audio:

How to connect a monitor that meets the requirements
In the rare case your monitor meets all the requirements above, just connect your TV provider box to your monitor by a HDMI cable.
If you don't like the sound of your monitor, check if it has an auxiliary input ("AUX", in case your monitor has an audio jack). Sometimes it has a headphone symbol next to it.
If it does you may use it to connect an external speaker. If you don't have an audio equipment, check this guide:
